CommSoft, a leading provider of BSS/OSS and service activation software, announced today that Hotwire Communications (Hotwire) has purchased Web Services to allow for a 2-way interface between iCommVergence, CommSoft’s flagship BSS/OSS solution, and Mapcom Systems’ M4 Workforce Software.

Having multiple applications that were not integrated with one another was posing a problem for Hotwire.  Because the applications did not have the capability of communicating with each other, they could not share information without the data being input manually.  Like most communications providers, Hotwire wanted their workforce and billing applications constantly updating and exchanging data without the labor-intensive manual updates.

“We saw the value of web services in the efficiencies it offers,” said Craig Pizer, General Counsel of Hotwire Communications.  “Having our applications exchange information without a lot of time and effort on the part of our employees allows us to reallocate this manpower to other projects.  We are also looking at other areas of our business to see where this automation with Web Services can help us next.”

Web services are designed to support machine-to-machine interaction over the network, offering a flexible approach that does not require constant modification.  By using Web Services, Mapcom’s Workforce Software will interface with CommSoft’s BSS/OSS and exchange data, giving Hotwire a more efficient means of managing their workforce assets.

“Hotwire purchased Mapcom’s M4 Solutions and wanted it to interface with iCommVergence without constant manual updating,” said Craig Engle, CommSoft’s Manager of Development.  “Our Web Services will provide a seamless interface and allow information to be shared between the two systems.  Helping to remove inefficiencies for our customers was one of our driving forces with this solution.”
