ILLINOIS VALLEY CELLULAR CHOOSES COMMSOFT’S WNP SOLUTION
ALBANY, NY - CommSoft, a leading provider of billing software
to midsize communications companies, announced today that Illinois Valley
Cellular has contracted to purchase application solutions to automate
processes associated with Wireless Number Portability (WNP) requirements.
The agreement will provide for compliance of the billing system prior
to the upcoming May deadline set forth by the FCC.
CommSoft’s solution provides for automation of the numerous data
transactions required in order to comply with the FCC’s mandates
which require that customers be able to port their existing phone numbers
from one carrier to another. At the center of this operational burden
is the requirement for an internal identification number to track which
carrier actually owns a number once it has been ported. Previously, the
carrier could be identified by the phone number itself. The project extends
to automate processes associated with record pooling, porting and reporting
which extensively impact critical systems including ordering, provisioning,
rating, switching and billing.
